And the Award Goes To....

Althought I am not the winner of an Academy Award, I do feel very honored to announce that I am one of the winners of the "Nurse of the Month" contest, held by the Chamberlain College of Nursing!!! If you didn't see our note about it at the top of our blog a few weeks ago, Chris nominated me for the competition. A co-worker of his told him about it, and Chris jumped at the chance to let me shine a little. The voting began and votes poured in, all the while, us unable to see which contestant had the most votes. The contest was closed about a week and a half ago and although they posted the results a few days later, I didn't believe them until I received a phone call tonight, telling me that I had won!

They will be presenting me with an award, and providing lunch for myself and 20 of my co-workers, AND giving me a spa gift certificate for $250.00! What a great prize! But, there is more... All of the collective winners from each month, are placed in a final drawing for $2,000 towards a vacation!!! So, you can imagine that I am really, really excited to win this contest and can only imagine how great a vacation might feel. It has been some time since we were able to take one and speaking for Chris, we both feel that a vacation would be great for us at this point for so many reasons. Let's hope luck is on our side when it comes time for the drawing in July.

Thank you so much for voting. I am not sure that I am actually "nurse of the month" material, I know so many wonderful nurses that I look up to myself. But, when I think of what nursing has meant to my career and my personal life, I know I was destined to be one. Nursing has been a VERY important part of my life that I strive to learn from and better my life with each day, and somewhere along the way, I hope I am impacting others as well.

Thank you,
Jenn
