Charlotte Updates & New Baby

Wow, we have been having some major fun with Charlotte. For those of you who we haven't seen recently, she is TALKING up a storm and repeats almost anything we say now. She is using many 2 word phrases, beginning to ask for what she wants, tell us when something is wrong, and loves to sing songs. She has been eating great, (still tiny, more on that next Monday when she sees the NICU follow-up team and Dr. Mantovani her neurologist). We have many Dr. appointments coming up for her and are hoping everyone puts their heads together to help our little girl grow... And since growth has been such a problem, I am randomly throwing this tip in, but anyone looking for adjustable waist pants as we have been forced to resort to, needs to go to Target! The "Genuine Kids" brand is made by Osh Kosh and they all adjust starting at at least 12 months. I found them on clearance last week for $9.00, a great price! Anyway, back to Charlotte...

Walking is still about the same as last time I posted. She is getting braver, but also more careless sometimes. She gets so excited to walk that she can't move her feet as fast as her mind is going. On the other hand, her body seems to never stop moving, especially when she is excited at the dinner table or just plain excited, the hands and feet are going, going. We have a theory that that behavior of hers (very much related to the fact that she basically has no cerebellum to give her the gift of graceful movement) is what is keeping her tiny. She is growing taller at the pace of the growth curve (less than 5%) but still keeping pace. However, she is so active, we think she burns anything she eats, even when sitting still because controlling her hands and feet can be quite a challenge. And since this little spunk has a lot of zest for life and is such a happy girl, that is quite often.

We are gearing her up for the new baby and also trying to get her out of diapers... The potty training has just begun and we have started by putting her on the potty before and after bath time and sometimes before bed. She pooped in the potty for the first time on Tuesday night, which was only her 3rd attempt sitting on it. She seems to be very patient to sit and loves to look at books while sitting. It is pretty easy to catch her for the #2 because she has always been so animated when she goes. When we see her grunt, we RUN! Ahhh.... I finally did it. I blogged about pooping on the potty, I am officially one of those moms...

As for the new baby, I have so many wonderful things to say. I am 32 Weeks and haven't spent the night in the hospital once! Praise GOD! And, we had our 2nd comprehensive ultrasound a week ago. They did not find any abnormalities and best of all, the baby is growing at approx. the 50%. WAY TO GO! I am so proud of this little one. It's average weight that day was 3# 14 oz, which is a pound larger than Charlotte when she was born @ almost 35 weeks and also the weight she was when we brought her HOME with us! I am so glad to know that this baby is holding up it's end of the bargain and by the grace of God, we will bring a healthy baby home from the hospital with us this time. Knowing how much bigger this baby is already gave me no surprise since I have been feeling it kick and move so much stronger than Charlotte ever did. What a reassuring feeling.

The sonographer that did our scan played around with the 3D imaging and gave us some cool shots of the baby's face. It already has some chubby cheeks, I just love it!

All pictures taken at 31 weeks...

This is a 3-D image of the baby's face, looking right at him/her. The stuff next to the face is the placenta, as it is in the front towards my belly. It was difficult to get a clear shot.

Also to come, some vidoe of Charlotte singing...
