IN SUPPORT OF RYAN MICHAEL HAWN & FAMILY
Chris and Jennifer (Davidson) Hawn had their second child, Ryan Michael, on January 27, 2009. Although he was born 4 weeks prematurely, he had a short 9-day stay in the NICU at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and came home with a clean bill of health. The first few weeks were filled with normal sleepless nights, dirty diapers and pure joy over their perfect little boy. But slowly things began to change and on May 4th Ryan was taken to the ER with concerns related to his difficulty eating, weak muscles and rapid breathing. On May 27th, Ryan was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1. Approximately 1 in 6,000 babies are born with SMA, but Ryan is ONE in a MILLION to us. There is no cure for SMA and very little treatment available. Chris and Jennifer are focusing on how to make the best of the time they have with Ryan now, as his life will be shortened dramatically. Please join us to help support the Hawn Family through this difficult time.
Proceeds will be utilized by the Hawn Family and remaining funds will be donated in Ryan’s name to Good Shepherd School For Children, Wings (BJC), and First United Methodist Church of St. Charles.
